Media Literacy Curriculum Training for Teachers Free training for New Mexico teachers - grades 6, 7, or 8 Eastern New Mexico University March 30-31, 2010 This training will show middle school teachers how to implement media literacy into a standards-based classroom, and will cover basic media literacy concepts and skills, tobacco, alcohol, and nutrition marketing and counter-marketing, and activities for the classroom. The training is ideal for language arts, health, ESL education, consumer education, and media and technology teachers, and aligns with NM state standards in these subjects. Teachers of other subjects are also welcome! Teachers who participate will receive free MLP educational DVD-ROMs, CD-ROMs, and a ready-made media literacy unit on DVD for the classroom valued at over $300. All participating teachers will receive free lunch and snacks during the training, and substitute teacher reimbursement for their schools. Teachers from out of town will receive free lodging and reimbursements for travel and evening meals. How to register: 1. Download the registration form and remember to include a credit card number. Fax it to Christie, MLP’s community education coordinator, at 505-828-3142.
2. This is a free training. However, due to the high demand we anticipate for this training and a limited number of participants, a $25 refundable deposit, payable by credit card, is required to secure your space. We apologize for the inconvenience, however we will not be able to accept purchase orders, personal or school checks, or cash. Please read the cancellation information on the registration form for more details about the deposit. 3. Your registration is not complete until you fax in the downloadable form with your credit card number. Registration will close when MLP has reached training capacity. This training is for 12 teachers; priority is given to teachers in the Southeast quadrant of our state. We encourage teachers to register ASAP as we anticipate this training will fill quickly.
