Media literacy - the ability to critically consume and create media - is an essential skill in today's world.


1. Describe the advertisement, including wording, images, colors, brands, logos, etc. This is the text of the ad.  (Up to 5 points)

2. Identify at least three (3) persuasion techniques used. See The Language of Persuasion on our website.  (Up to 5 points)

3. Describe the messages and values the ad promotes.  This is the subtext.  (Up to 5 points)

4 Explain what information is left out of the ad. Explain how the ad could be more truthful.  This is the untold story. (Up to 5 points)

5. Use correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation. (Up to 3 points)

6. Your essay must be no more than 600 words long.  (Up to 2 points)

Explain how the ad challenges or reinforces stereotypes of individuals or communities in one or more areas:
